Study Task 6 What is illustration for?

Independant task

My individual views

Benefits of PPP with regards to professional practise:

  • I mush myself to create work at a professional level and aim for more finished work
  • It enables me to find work that interests me and reflects my practise
  • I question my line work and push it further
  • It influences me to experiment with different materials
  • Makes me question why I draw, the purpose of my drawings and helped me better understand how to draw funny for example
Problems :

  • I am open minded and can appreciate all illustration but its rare that I find work that really inspires me and reflects what I'm about
  • I think maybe I do not look enough because I don't know how to find my shared interests quickly - for example I have to sift through a load on AOI before I find one
  • It can make you feel disheartened about your own work
Where do I find my illustrators??

This book 'How to massage your cat' Fred borrowed me as from my work he figured I would find it humorous, and I did.

The New York Times

I'd love to think that one day I could work with the New York Times but I am not sure if I have it in me to read an article and make an image based on what I've read and have it actually fit the brief that they would want. It seems a long way away for me

My own personal books

I particularly like the last one because there are so many quotes in there, that are really bizaare and just make me think a little bit weird sometimes and outside of the box.

Woah

The illustrators that don't necessarily reflect my style of work but their work is amazing it makes me go 'woah' like it would be impossible to do
